Highlighting the impetus for the acquisition, Stu Sjouwerman, CEO, KnowBe4, said while they have been leaders in security awareness and phishing prevention, their customers also needed solutions in email security, particularly for internet cloud email security, mainly focusing on Microsoft and Google platforms.
"When we built a bidirectional integration with KnowBe4 whereby not only were we seeing some of those advanced behavioral-based inbound and outbound threats, a lot of the threats were not always payload-based attacks but often using natural language processing," said Tony Pepper, CEO, Egress. "We were detecting those and offering banners and teachable moments, to ultimately avoid people from interacting with those."
In this video interview with Information Security Media Group at RSA Conference 2024, Sjouwerman and Pepper also discussed:

- The road map for fully integrating Egress into KnowBe4;
- The role of AI-driven technologies in addressing behavioral-based attacks.
