Pete Barker, director of fraud and identity, SpyCloud

Pete Barker was a Digital Loss Prevention practitioner before joining SpyCloud as Director of Fraud & Identity. He saw first-hand the impact of COVID-19 on fraud incidents, which are more automated and broadly targeted. He explains how "COVID changed all the rules" and how defenders can raise their game.

In this video interview with Information Security Media Group, Barker discusses:

  • What we have learned about fraudsters and their new tactics;
  • How defenders can respond strategically and tactically;
  • The role of data in fraud defenses.

Barker has spent over 25 years in the fraud and investigations space, most recently as the Director of Fraud and Identity for SpyCloud. Prior to SpyCloud, he was the senior manager of digital loss prevention at Dick’s Sporting Goods, where he put the e-commerce fraud department on the map when he and his team won the 2018 North American Fraud Awards.
